You’re researching your brackets for our Charity Madness competition, right? To help you decide who to support in our round of 32, here’s some information on the organizations competing in our East SF division.
San Francisco schools: Sports Basement knows that education is a key factor in the development of a child’s healthy mind and body; that’s why we’ve partnered up with schools all over San Francisco to provide support and donations. For the tournament, we’ve decided there is strength in numbers, so all of our school partners will come together and play as a unified force, sure to put up a good fight for their four-legged challenger, the SPCA. With over 80 school partners, we know it’s going to be a great game!
San Francisco SPCA: The SF SPCA is a community supported non-profit, dedicated to saving and protecting cats and dogs. These animal lovers are ready for the Charity Madness challenge and are looking forward to growling and meowing at their match ups. They are going to tap into their animal instincts to put up a good fight. The SPCA cares about the community and is committed to raising funds for their ever growing mission to save and protect animals.
Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts: The Boy Scouts of the Bay Area and Girl Scouts of Northern California prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, courageous, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law. They will be bringing their crafty skills to the competition with big hopes of being a contender all the way until the last week of play. With the right “can do” attitude they should be able to advance and set their sights on SF Schools in the second round. The partnership that we share with these groups is as strong as their presence in Charity Madness 2012.
Project Inform: Project Inform is constantly fighting the Hepatitis C and HIV epidemics, by assuring the development of effective treatments and a cure. This is a determined group that will not stop until they find the cure or in this case raise the most funds for their amazing and life-changing nonprofit. They are reaching out to their strong network of supporters and are ready for the challenge of Charity Madness. Watch out world…Project Inform is a real threat!
America SCORES inspires urban youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. SCORES partners with urban schools to provide a high quality, team-based program that integrates soccer, poetry and service-learning. They might be one of our smaller groups but their competitive nature and determination is sure to dribble them past the competition!
Black Rock Arts Foundation: The Black Rock Arts Foundation values art that builds community through education, collaboration and activism. These artists have rallied their creative community and are ready to bulldoze the competition. They are ready to actively connect with their supporters and call them into action. Founded with an emphasis on community, similar to Sports Basement, BRAF has been a great partner.
San Francisco Police Department & San Francisco Fire Department: San Francisco’s finest! This powerhouse will be tough to beat in the East SF Division but with the right head-to-head game plan every team has the opportunity to be Cinderella in this story. Our relationship with these groups is fantastic and only getting stronger as the years go by. Keep your eyes open for danger and your hands on the wheel and prepare yourself for a fantastic tournament.
buildOn: Changing lives left and right, buildOn is more than ready to lay it down for Charity Madness at Sports Basement. buildOn, is a strong alliance of inspired individuals tied together with one common goal…changing your “I can’t” into “I will.” They are motivated and determined to give all they can for this tournament. They believe that our youth can change the world. Their strong beliefs will surely propel them through the rounds. buildOn is a movement, so move over match ups, here they come.
