UPDATES ON OUR ANTI-RACISM ACTION PLAN

Here at Sports Basement, our efforts towards achieving true diversity and inclusion won't end when the headlines change - it's something we will keep pushing towards every single day. We are working tirelessly to continually improve our internal processes, our public-facing programs and offerings, and our impact on the outdoor industry in general. Since the last update of our Anti-Racism Action Plan, we’ve been continuing to execute on our action items. Click below to read about some of the changes & plans that we’ve put in place already, from our new Resource Grant to our work to increase Diversity and Inclusion in our internal hiring and promotion practices.

OUR RENTAL RESOURCE GRANT

Sports Basement's Resource Grant Initiative is intended to help increase accessibility to the great outdoors for nonprofit organizations and school programs serving Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) individuals. Our Resource Grant Initiative was developed as part of Sports Basement's Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness (DEI) program and Anti-Racism Action Plan (ARAP). Applicant submissions that target and serve BIPOC will receive higher priority, as that is the aim of this initiative, though non-BIPOC individuals and groups are welcome to apply.

Using this program, individuals and groups can receive free access to much of our rental fleet, including bikes, camping tents, skis and more, as well as access to our SB Outdoors trip planning (including fully funded trips for qualified groups) and so much more! Apply using our form.

OUR APPRENTICE PROGRAM

Sports Basement is proud to introduce our Apprentice Program. This program is intended to train Black, Indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) to become leaders in the outdoor industry. We'll provide skills and training to individuals who want to get involved in this field, especially those interested in a paid position in the field of adventure guiding with Sports Basement Outdoors.

If you're interested in applying, just look for an SB Outdoors trip or event you're interested in joining and apply below (one spot available per trip) using our form!
